Yama-dera (Hojusan Risshaku-ji Temple)

Founded in 860 and featured in the poems of Edo-era poet Matsuo Basho, Yama-dera offers stunning views after a climb up 1,015 stone steps. Surrounded by nature, it’s beautiful in every season.

After heading down the mountain, customers will purchase their own lunch.

*Meals are not included. Customers are to pay for required charges themselves.

Step into the past in this scenic hot spring town, where historic wooden inns line the Ginzan River. Protected for its beauty, Ginzan Onsen offers a nostalgic atmosphere perfect for a relaxing stroll.

  • Operation Conditions/Tour Conditions

    - The last reception day (reservation deadline) is 14 days prior to the tour.

    - If the minimum number of participants (2) is not met by 14 days before the scheduled date, or due to other operational management circumstances, the tour on that date may be canceled.

    - If the tour is canceled, customers will be notified by the conducting company or their travel agent.

    - The itinerary displayed on the booking screen is the final itinerary.

  • Exemptions/Itinerary Guarantee

     The order of activities and arrival times may differ on the day depending on reasons such as road conditions and congestion at destinations.

  • Regarding Children/Infants

    Children from 6 years old may participate, but please take great care as sharp objects such as throwing stars and replica swords will be used.
    Young children up to 5 years old may join free of charge, but hired car seats will not be provided. Children requiring seats must be booked under the child rate. If there are more than 2 young children not booked under the child rate for each adult or child customer, hired car seats are required for the 3rd child onward. Please book them under the child rate.

  • What to Wear/Bring

    As the ninja clothing is worn over customers' normal clothing, please wear clothes that are easy to move in. (Adult Customers: One size fits all; Child Customers: Small and medium sizes available )

  • Important Notes

    Customers who are late for the departure time will have their reservations canceled. Please give yourself plenty of time.
     

  • Meet-up

    n front of Sendai City Tourist Information Center (2nd floor in Sendai Station building) / 7:50 

    *The Shinkansen boarding area is on the 3rd floor. Located about 50-60 meters to the right after exiting the central ticket gate of the JR conventional line.
    *Customers who are late for the departure time will have their reservations canceled. Please give yourself plenty of time.

  • Children/Infants

    Children 0-5 years old may join free of charge.

  • What to Wear/Bring

    - As suitcases, etc. cannot be brought during the tour, please have them delivered in advance, or leave them in a locker or at your hotel before participating.

    - There are many stone steps at Yama-dera (Hojusan Risshaku-ji Temple). Wearing shoes easy to walk in is recommended.

    - Snowfall is expected in winter. Wearing snow boots or other shoes that protect against snow is recommended.
