Experience offers international visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in Japanese culture and tradition as part of their Okinawa journey.

Participants will learn the fundamental elements of kendo, including proper etiquette, basic footwork and movements, striking techniques, and match-style practice. The experience is suitable for beginners and is led by a qualified instructor with over 20 years of kendo experience, ensuring a safe, authentic, and enjoyable introduction to this iconic Japanese martial art.

 

Through kendo training, you will gain insight into the core values of kendo: discipline, respect, and lifelong self-improvement. These principles form the foundation of this traditional Japanese martial art.

In addition to learning basic striking techniques and match-style skills, you will also explore the history, philosophy, and etiquette of kendo. This experience offers a deeper understanding of its cultural and spiritual dimensions, allowing you to appreciate kendo through mind, technique, and body.

 

*Each experience session lasts 90 minutes.

    JPY 18,000/per person

    *Payment will be settled in Canadian dollars at the exchange rate on the payment date.

     

  • Departure date

    Available on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays through September 22, 2026.

  • Cancellation Policy

    Any cancellations made between 6 days (00:00 local time) and 1 day (00:00 local time) prior to the activity will be subject to a charge of 50% of the total amount.

    Any cancellations made between 1 day (00:00 local time) and 0 days (00:00 local time) prior to the activity will be subject to a charge of 80% of the total amount.

    Any cancellations made after 00:00 local time on the day of the activity will be non-refundable.

  • Inclusions

    Kendo experience fee; rental of kendo uniform and protective equipment

  • Notes

    • Participation is not available on Wednesdays, Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays, or during the year-end and New Year period (December 30 to January 3). In addition, reservations for your preferred date may not be accepted depending on facility availability.
    • If a child participates, they must be accompanied by a parent or guardian (adult).
