Authentic Nohgaku Experience Tour
Nohgaku, Japan’s oldest performing art dating back 650 years, is a UNESCO-recognized tradition that embodies Japanese aesthetics and spirituality. This special tour offers rare, in-depth access to the world of Noh through performances, explanations, and hands-on experiences led by professional Noh actors. Held in a privately reserved, authentic cypress-wood Noh theatre beneath Shibuya’s Cerulean Tower, the tour lets you fully appreciate the stage’s architectural beauty and sacred atmosphere with all your senses.

10:00 Nohgaku Experience
Enjoy a hands-on program led by a professional Noh performer in an authentic Noh theater. The tour begins with a performance in formal black crested kimono, followed by an introduction to Noh’s history, stage design, masks, and costumes. Guests will learn basic postures and steps, then try walking the hashigakari to the main stage.
You’ll also visit the Kagami-no-Ma, a normally restricted room where performers prepare and put on their masks. Watch how a performer dresses for the shimai dance, try on a Noh mask yourself, and take commemorative photos. The tour concludes with a second dance performance—this time in full costume—offering a new perspective on the art.
