Itinerary
Day 1 – Exploring Matsumoto’s Castle Town
Walking distance: approx. 13km
Arrive at Matsumoto Station and check in to your accommodation. Begin the tour with a local sake tasting and trip briefing. Then explore the historic castle town with your guide, including the exterior of Matsumoto Castle and traditional streets. In the evening, enjoy dinner at a local izakaya popular with residents.
Day 2 – Nomugi Old Trail Trek
Walking distance: approx. 13km
Walk the historic Nomugi Trail, once connecting Shinano and Hida and traveled by merchants and silk mill workers. Trek through beautiful forests of beech and conifers while learning about the region’s history from a local guide. Enjoy a special lunch box made with local ingredients along the way. After the trek, return to Matsumoto and savor a relaxing dinner of Shinshu cuisine paired with local sake at your hotel restaurant.
Day 3 – Free Day
Enjoy a full day at your leisure. Optional activities such as trekking, cycling, outdoor adventures, or cultural experiences in Matsumoto and the surrounding area can be arranged upon request. If you plan to travel to your next destination in the morning, transportation and accommodation arrangements can also be assisted.
